From the Journal of Craniofacial Surgery January 2015

The aim of this study is to show the possible positive effect of coenzyme Q10 on regenerating the facial nerve.  The rats were divided into 2 groups as CoQ10 and saline control groups.  This study was done on female rats in which the right facial nerve stimulation thresholds were determined before crush, immediately after crush and after one month.  The crushed part of the facial nerve was excised and the specimens were examined by a pathologist.  After one month, neither group had met the precrushing amplitude.  Significant differences were found in vascular congestion, macrovascularization and myelin thickness.  CoQ10 for the treatment of acute facial paralysis is promising on both physiologic assessments and pathologic evaluation.

God bless you and to your good health!
