Here is another interesting article that shows the benefits of curcumin after a heart attack and subsequent open heart surgery. Cardioprotective therapies to limit cardiac muscle tissue injury after open heart surgery are lacking. This study demonstrated that curcuminoids significantly decreased heart attacks (MI) associated with open heart surgery. The antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of curcuminoids may account for their cardioprotective effects shown in this study.
