A recent study was conducted using data from a 38 year period. CRP (a marker for inflammation) was measured as a comparison in people who slept well and had insomnia. The study authors report that: “In a population-based cohort, persistent, and not intermittent, insomnia was associated with increased risk for all-cause and cardiopulmonary mortality and was associated with a steeper increase in inflammation.”
