NEW PACKAGING-SAME RED YEAST RICE
Cardiovascular disease continues to be the leading cause of mortality in the United States. One of the major risk factors for cardiovascular disease is elevated total and LDL (“bad”) cholesterol. There are several categories of prescription drugs that are designed to help lower cholesterol; the most commonly prescribed being Statin drugs. Statins are effective at lowering total and LDL cholesterol, but they are associated with significant side effects. Many individuals with elevated cholesterol have been able to improve their cardiovascular health through diet, exercise, and nutraceutical supplements. One of the nutraceuticals that have been shown in research studies to support normal LDL and total cholesterol levels is red yeast rice. Red yeast rice is the product of yeast (Monascus purpureus) grown on rice, and is served as a dietary staple in some Asian countries. It contains several compounds that are collectively known as monacolins which support the mechanisms that can lead to improved cardiovascular health.
What is Red Yeast Rice?
For centuries, Red Yeast Rice (RYR) has been used in China as both a food and as a medicinal substance. By fermenting a type of yeast called Monascus purpureus over red rice, you in turn make Red Yeast Rice. Through the centuries, in Chinese Medicine, RYR has been shown to promote blood circulation, soothe upset stomach, and invigorate the function of the spleen, a body organ that destroys old blood cells and filters foreign substances. More recently, RYR has been shown to contain substances beneficial in maintaining healthy LDL levels.
Is Our Red Yeast Rice clean?
Yes. Our Red Yeast Rice is grown in the USA in a clean room setting and follows U.S.P. Standards (United States Pharmacopeia). Additionally, it is manufactured in FDA licensed and inspected laboratories with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Our Red Yeast Rice is coliform and heavy metal free
Does Our Red Yeast Rice contain any citrinin?
This is a big question that always comes up when dealing with red yeast rice and for good reasons. Citrinin is a nephrotoxin that can cause damage to the kidneys and because there are no quantitive guidelines set, many companies get away with citrinin in their finalized product. In testing, citrinin is not detectable at 1ppm (parts per million), so we went even further and had ours tested at 200ppb (parts per billion), which is the lowest capability of the analytical method being used, and the levels were still undetectable, which makes our Red Yeast Rice extremely safe to use.
Should I take Red Yeast Rice along with other cholesterol lowering drugs?
Red Yeast Rice should not be taken with any other cholesterol-lowering medications known as HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors (statins).
How many capsules of our Red Yeast Rice should I take per day?
It is suggested to take 2 capsules, 2 times daily or as directed by a qualified healthcare professional. Do not take more than four capsules per day.
