Congratulations! You did it. You made it through 2020!
Whether you made it through by the skin of your teeth feeling defeated or you floated through feeling accomplished and triumphant, the fact remains that 2020 is in the books.
Of course, we typically make plans, goals, and resolutions at the top of years past, but this year, we may find it more difficult or even pointless. Everything has been too heavy. We had to learn new words and change their meaning.
“Social distancing,” “Flattening the curve,” and “Mask up” come to mind.
That’s ok. We can feel the weight of it too.
BUT, we have a brand new chapter awaiting us. We still may have to use the vocabulary and language from last year, but we now know how to navigate through these new concepts. We can still live life. And live it to the fullest.
So go ahead and make some goals — small ones and BIG ones.
Do new things.
Make new friends (and reconnect and STAY connected with old ones).
Finish the project you started during “quarantine” (or “lockdown” or “shutdown” — all new concepts for us in 2020)
Get and STAY healthy — body, mind, and spirit.
Read new books.
Learn to dance, paint, sew, garden.
Dream again.
Daydream.
Or, STOP daydreaming and finally make it a reality.
There are so many good, good things waiting for all of us in 2021. If the last year taught us anything, it’s that we know how to persevere and make the best of what we have.
If 2020 was the year that threw us lemons, 2021 can be the year we learned to make lemonade.
Everyone raise a glass of lemonade. Here’s to 2021.
Cheers and Happy New Year!
