In a recent study done on animals, researchers have discovered that boswellic acid (boswellia-frankincense) and turmeric (curcumin) can have a chemo-preventive effect on colorectal cancer. They have antitumerogenic properties. They inhibited cellular proliferation (spread), apoptosis (cell suicide) and cell cycle arrest in colorectal cancer cell lines. These effects were enhanced when treatments were combined. The two agents are actually effecting change at a stem cell level, which is remarkable. This approach could be an effective pro-active approach at preventing colorectal cancer.
