Testosterone is one of the most potent anabolic hormones and its biological effects include promotion of muscle growth. Resistance exercise can increase testosterone production in men and women. The resistance exercise session should contain high volume and metabolic demand to induce an acute testosterone response. This was in the Journal of Sports Medicine.
